To share your docs, you must specify whom you intend to see your docs (friends, family or the world) and at the same time, add the members of your network to the corresponding categories.
Mark your docs
You can choose the sharing options for docs at the time of upload, on each document's page, or in the DocManager.
If you don't check off any items under "private", the document will only be visible to you.
You can set global sharing options for new documents that you upload in your default sharing preferences.
Select your loved ones
You can "mark" your family as Family, Friends (or Contacts, if you don't check either off) when you invite them or when you add members already registered on ipernity.
At any time you can change the sharing options of your documents and change member categories.

We encourage you to allow comments to the greatest extent, but it is up to you to decide!
You can specify the required rights for commenting for all of your documents in your default sharing preferences (this setting will apply to new documents).
To change one document, click "change" in the "Comments & privacy" section. To edit multiple documents at once, use the DocManager.
Remember that visitors not logged on can't leave comments. If a particular member bothers you and you don't want them to be able to leave you comments anymore, you can block them.
The easiest way is to check your recent activity. On this page, all the comments members write in your space are listed in real time.
There is also a comments RSS feed which you can subscribe to monitor all comments without logging on the site.
More about: tracking comments
In addition to your sharing choices, you can assign specific rights to members of your network and unregistered visitors: download your documents, get sharing codes for publishing elsewhere, or see photos in the large format.
These choices let you protect your documents without restricting their publication. They are of great value if you share your creations in public. They are modifiable through the Originals & Exifs page in your preferences.
Here are the different options that allow you to protect your documents:
- Original: you allow downloading, creation of access codes for sharing, and viewing the large format of photographs.
- Code sharing: downloading is prohibited but the visitor has access to the codes to publish your document in comments or on another website.
- Large format (for photos only): When you upload an image, we create different size previews from the original file. By checking the box, you allow visitors to see your photos large size, i.e. at 1024 pixels (this preview is only available if the original is larger).
The previews are accessed by clicking on the "View all sizes' icon above the document.
- Nothing special: no rights, no downloading, no access codes or viewing large sizes.
If you are an artist/creator...
... and you share your work in public, we advise you to grant the right to "sharing codes" to all your visitors.
And if you are concerned about the use of your large-format photo, be aware that we are protecting the copy from right-click saving (a white image is shown instead of the large photo).
You can easily publish your documents or those of members (if they allow it) on other sites, in comments or blogs without having to upload them again. Simply cut and paste the sharing code that we attach to each document:
-- The HTML code to view the document directly
Or
-- The URL (internet address of the document) to create a direct link to the document page on ipernity.
Note that the sharing code is never available for original documents (photos).
You can limit or prohibit the publication of your own documents in your Preferences / Originals and Exifs.
To get the sharing code for a photo, display it and click the "see all sizes" icon.
Next, choose the desired size, and copy the HTML code or URL.
For other documents (audio, video ...), click on the "Download or share" icon.

It's possible to display a photo or insert a link directly into a comment. Here's how:
Insert a photo
If this is a photo available on ipernity (yours or a member's), display it and click the "see all sizes" icon.
Choose a size, preferably less than 500 pixels wide in order not to affect the layout, and copy the HTML code.
Then paste the code in your comment.
Insert a hyperlink
To insert a link, it's easy, Just paste the Web address (URL) directly in the comment. If you want to link to a document on ipernity you will find the URL by clicking on the "see all sizes" icon above the document.
The list of allowed HTML tags in comments is available by clicking on "Some HTML tags are accepted" below the comment field.
Using your Default sharing preferences, you can decide who can add tags (this choice will apply to new uploads).
To change it on a document, click "change" in the "Comments & privacy" section. And to change multiple documents at once, use the DocManager.

On your documents home page or on an individual document page:
Virtually all the items are changed with a single click. For example, to change a title, description or sharing options, just click on them.
With All-in-One edition:
Accessible from the home page of your documents, use it when you have less than 10 documents to be updated.
With The DocManager:
It's an essential tool for easily and quickly organizing your documents.
The main advantage of DocManager is it can work on multiple documents simultaneously.
The DocManager is accessible from the "My Space" menu (by clicking on the arrow).
Go to your document page and click on the "Rotate" icon.
Use the DocManager if you have several pictures to rotate.
You can configure automatic rotation of your photos under Originals & Exifs in your Preferences.
We've setup Creative Commons licenses and we encourage you to use them. This mechanism allows you to inform your visitors of conditions on the use of your documents. If you do not wish to assign licensing, a copyright will be added by default.
You can define a global license for your documents in your Preferences / Default license.
To assign a license to documents already uploaded, use the DocManager.
This option is available for PRO accounts. It permits the replacement of a document with another, without losing the comments, tags, title, description, notes and associated sharing options.
However, the URL and HTML are not modified. This means that if you have a link or your document published elsewhere, it won't become unavailable.
During your visits to ipernity, you'll appreciate some docs more than others. The "Add to favorites" function allows you to keep track of them in order to locate them easily.
Add / remove a doc to your favorites
You can add your own docs and other peoples to your "favorites". To do so, view the doc and click on "add to favorites" (the star).
Go nuts people, the number of favorites is unlimited :)
To remove a favorite, hit the link again.
Where do I see my favorites?
The link to your favorites page is on "Your docs" page.
This page is accessible to all visitors, but they can only see "public" docs.
Yes, of course! By going to the "Your documents" page and clicking on "Popular", you can see your documents ranked by most appreciated, most discussed and most visited.
Visit and vote statistics are also available on each document's page under "More information".
You can also determine the number of visits to an album by viewing it.
