1. Doc? Why not Photo?

With ipernity, you can publish all your digital content: photos, images, videos, music, Word documents, Excel, Powerpoint... That's why we use the generic term Doc.

By this we also mean:

- Photos, Images, drawings and digital photos (JPEG, GIF, PNG...)

- Videos, Videos (MPEG, DIVX, XVID...)

- Audio all sound content, notably MP3

- Others, all the rest. For example, Word or PDF docs, Excel spreadsheets, Flash animations...

2. Uploading docs to ipernity

First off, there aren't different ways to upload photos, videos and other content. Ipernity automatically recognizes the file types and sorts them into the corresponding document categories (photographs, videos, audio, etc.).

Several upload tools are available by clicking on the Upload link at the top left of pages.

From your computer & digital camera

The easiest way to start is to select the less than 10 files method. Simply choose the files one by one from your hard disk (or camera) that you want to upload to ipernity.

To easily upload many files at once, you can also:

-- Pick up to 100 files
-- Install iperUpload
-- Or upload a ZIP archive.

By email or from your mobile phone

Another very simple method is to import your documents via email. You send an e-mail with your files as attachments to a personal and confidential address that can be found in Preferences/Upload and blog by email and voila, the files are automatically uploaded to your space! Very useful if you want to send photos from your mobile phone!

Via the web

You can also import all the elements of a web page (images, video, music…) or recover a file hosted on the Internet (URLs).

In Preferences, Third-party applications, you will find a list of programs that you specifically allow to import your photos that you've published on other websites.

4. Am I limited in the number of docs that I can upload or publish?

With ipernity, you are not limited by storage space. You can upload docs for as long as you live! Because ipernity has been designed so that over time you can build your digital heritage!

Our resources are not limitless ;-), we apply:

- Monthly upload quotas so that all our members can regularly upload new docs;
- Display restrictions for free accounts.

If you have a free account:

- You can upload up to 200MB of additional content every month (i.e. 200 1MB photos),
- Only your latest 1000 docs are displayed, the others are hidden (More info)

If you have a "PRO" account:

- Your monthly upload capacity is unlimited,
- All of your docs are displayed, without any limitations.

(more on PRO)

Your remaining capacity for the current month is posted on the main upload page. It is reset the 1st day of each month (00:00 GMT +2). It is reduced with each new uploaded doc. The removal of docs after uploading does not refill your upload capacity.

5. What's the maximum size for a doc?

The maximum doc size that you can upload to ipernity is shown on the Upload page.

Please note that if you try to upload a file larger than the maximum size, the file will be rejected and deducted from your monthly upload allowance.

6. Some of my docs disappeared. What's going on?

Two possible causes:

You probably a free account
... And you have more than 1000 docs in your space. However, only 1000 are visible for free accounts. Don't worry, the others aren't deleted. They are simply hidden.
In becoming a PRO, all your docs will be displayed again, without limitations.

You have ad blocker(s) installed
... Which prevent the display of your docs. Simply change the settings in your program(s) preferences to remedy the situation.

7. Originals

ipernity is one of the few services that retains the original files that you publish.
You will find a link - Download the original - in the More information section at the bottom right of each doc.

You can also allow other members to download your originals. To do this:

1 - You must give permission ( Preferences / Originals and Exif )

2 - AND you or the member wishing to download the original must be a PRO

8. Saving docs on my computer

To save a doc published on ipernity to your computer, simply go to the doc page and click on the link Download the original file on the bottom right in the "More information" section.

If the link isn't there, it's because the author doesn't allow downloading of the original.

9. My photos were automatically rotated...

This option is enabled by default and is effective for certain cameras.

You can deactivate it, go into Preferences / Originals & exif.

Important: we rotate the photo displayed on ipernity, but the original remains intact.

10. My audio/video file isn't readable on ipernity

You uploaded a video or audio file, and it's not readable on ipernity?

-- The file could be corrupt
-- The format is not (yet) recognized by ipernity

We recommend that you upload the following formats:

-- For videos: flv, DivX, XviD, 3gp or Quicktime
-- For audio: MP3

11. My video file is too big to be uploaded...

If your video exceeds the upload size allowed, you have several options to remedy the situation:

-- You can break your video into multiple parts. Then upload the files starting from the end so they're displayed chronologically in your docs.

-- You can also convert your video to a smaller format. For this we recommend you use the flv format.

Many free programs can perform these operations easily, like Video Cutter and Splitter or Ultra Video Splitter.

12. Animated GIFs

All photo previews on ipernity are in JPEG format, whatever the format of the originals.

That is why any animated gifs you import into your space are represented by the first image.

However, you can use animated gifs hosted on other sites for inclusion in your comments, articles and guestbook. To do this, insert the HTML Image tag (<img src="http://xxxxxxxx">)
