Having only just started to use HDR I am wondering if I can tweak something in HDRShop to balance the range more to my taste. For example in this test shot, I would really like the foregound to have been lighter and the background darker. This might not be possible - after all the shot looks reasonably well balanced, but I'm always one for asking and experimenting

You could try some Photoshop filter like "Nik Viveza" or "Photowiz Lightmachine" to balance the lighting to your personal favor.

In general, I just view whatever comes out of the HDR software (I use Photomatix, but this is true for every HDR program) as just the starting point for the image. In all cases, I adjust curves, hue/saturation, etc. in Photoshop later. You should not expect to get a perfect picture already out of HDRShop.

Best regards, Thorsten
