Von der Ruine Kargegg existiert auch folgende Sage:
Ein Liebhaber einer hübschen Tochter des Burgherren durchschwamm für ein Treffen in einer Nacht den Überlinger See. Dabei sollte ein Licht am Fenster ihm den Weg zeigen. Doch im aufsteigenden Nebel verlor der Schwimmer die Orientierung und ertrank letztendlich völlig entkräftet...
