Just an egg and already pigeon-holed! That is one thought that comes to mind--at least my mind--when looking at this picture. However, the empty squares also imply that it is possible to break away and escape from the assigned space and the pigeon-hole. it then becomes a choice and the question becomes to accept or not to accept? A very thought provoking picture and one which many could find different meaning and interpretation to. One of the hardest things to do is to light and capture objects of the same or similar tone without making the scene boringly monotone. I think this was very successful in this respect: the tones spread over a wide range without blocking the dark areas or blowing the light areas.
I also like the juxtaposition and the pairing of the geometric lines--man-made--and the organic gentle curves which seems to be a recurring component in your photographs. I find this aesthetically pleasing but also thought provoking and having a definite emotional content.
The composition is bold in the sense that the egg is placed almost at the center which many may regard as not OK because that tends to make the photo a bit static. However, the lines criss-crossing and the repetition of patterns of light and shadow makes the eye move quite freely around the image making it less static and full of tension because the eye tends to wander around and then cannot resist the pull of the egg but cannot dwell there for too long before starting the wandering around again: an endless cycle of wandering and a little rest and wandering again.
Very nice work.
Aref has an impressive contribuition of political articles and photography criticism in this latter case through the group Critique. His written contribuition as far as I know is probably one of the most numerous in ipernity.
As respect to the photo as my first idea was to provoke some discussion ( about photography itself but also about ipernity) I can only be glad to have received such a competent considerations.
