The weather was improved today -- still about 20 mph winds, but intermittantly clear. There was almost nobody on the beach, but there were a few large birds flying overhead. I shot these with the big Sigma 150 - 500 mm lense. It is a battery hog, but is a decent wildlife or sports lense.

Thanks. I shoot hundreds of these type of shots and a few actually come out good like this. In many respects, photographing animals is the same as humans -- you want to show the face and all the major features. For example, today I made a bunch of attempts at photographing manatees and dolphins. Unfortunately, most are just what I would call "fin soup" -- just a bunch of fins randomly sticking out of the water. What I really want, is to show the animal's face and/or it doing something unusual.
