You never know what happens - so always bring your camera with you :o)

Taken tonight on our way back from our friends summerhouse not far away from Selfoss and Flúðir. I had my camera with me but not my tripod or any other equipment for long exposures BUT suddenly these beautiful lights lit up the sky - almost all my family sleeping (me driving) I stopped the car, put the camera on top of the roof and took this picture :o)

It is not very good, not in perfect focus and no special background BUT it is for those of you that are talking about visiting Iceland during the winter time to see Aurora Borealis :o) As you can now see THEY COME DURING SUMMER ALSO.... :o) and OMG how beautiful it was - sigh...

As I look at this picture, I really think I should visit iceland to see Aurora Borealis. Beautiful!
When I have to use my car`s roof for tripod, I always put the first aid box between the roof and the camera ;)

Ég man alltaf eftir því þegar ég var yngri og lá á bakinu í grasinu uppí hlíð heima á Ísafirði og horfði á norðurljósin dansa á himninum. Ég hef alltaf haldið að það hljóti að hafa verið í sept eða okt, en samkvæmt þessu gæti það hafa verið í ágúst.

If I didn't know how much cold can the weather be in that area (my swedish Mum brought me in Northern Europe several times), I could say I'd like to live there just to see such wonderful sky...
Great shot !

Ragnheidurpro replies:
HEY!!! Iceland is really not that cold :o) The temp varies btwn. -10°c (on a cold day) - 23°C - but usually it is around freezing point most of the witnter time.... So, it is never that cold but... never that warm either - so - perfect :o)
