Und wenn dann doch mal eine Biene meint, ruhig sitzen zu bleiben, macht meine Kamera nicht mit und der Autofokus spinnt... :-(

Mit dem Autofokus bist du da auf verlorenem Posten! Bei solchen Motiven hocke ich teilweise ewig davor und stelle IMMER per Hand scharf!

Wegen der Erklärung des Unterschiedes habe ich Reinhard gebeten - er ist der absolute Insekten-Experte!

also Experte bin ich sicher nicht ;-))
der größte Unterschiede ist wohl die Größe, dann sind Bienen Hautflügler und Schwebfliegen sind Zweiflügler, sehr gut Auskunft gibt da Wikipedia denn mehr Erklärungen sprengen die Kommentar-Box ;-)
