I have been traveling so much this summer that I am afraid I have forgotten what it feels like to just be home.
Yesterday was spent just being home after being in Rhode Island 11 days ago and leaving the kids there only to have to pick them up last Saturday on the way to Brion's Family Bi-Annual Reunion.
Last Saturday I drove about 600 miles picking up the kids, driving to New York and driving back home. Sunday was a crash-at-home day spent with Keith and Jacob and joined by Laura for dinner. On Monday, we left again for Maine.
Today we drop Ian off at Boy Scout camp.
Tomorrow it is NYC.
Crazy
What could be better than 10 beautiful days spent in one of New England's finest places? We got back late Saturday night from 10 days on the island of Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts. What a gorgeous place! We were given the opportunity to stay at a house owned by a friend of ours. They usually rent it out, but we were able to rent it last week. The house was AMAZING! 5 bedrooms (two of which are master bedroom suites with bathrooms, 4 1/2 bathrooms, living room, dining room, large eat-in kitchen, entertainment room, huge deck off the eating area of the kitchen, roof deck with views of the Rhode Island Sound, the Elizabeth Islands and New Bedford, MA in the distance.
Totally gorgeous!

| Flume |
We drove up to Franconia the other day. It was a beautiful day when we left Southern New Hampshire. But in NH, that doesn't mean anything when you live in this state! We drove up as I was hoping to go to the Bethlehem Flower Farm, best laid plans of mothers and others. I never made it.
We ended up pulling off at The Flume, one of my favourite places in NH. The skies had clouded on our trip up, but the rain had held off. We stopped into the main entrance building, hit the bathrooms, bought sweatshirts for my kids not too prepared friends, bought our tickets and headed out the door, past the sign that reads, "No Rainchecks, No Refunds" and the heavens opened and the rains poured down.
We stopped and stared at it for a few moments, trying to will the rains away, but it was not working. So back to the shops to purchase rain ponchos and out we went. Now one thing you have to know about the Flume, there has never been a time that I have been there where it wasn't damp. This time was just a tad more damp than usual.
We had a great time anyway and after a trip around Franconia, we were treated to the third rainbow I had sen in a week and a beautiful sunset. Not a bad way to end the day.
