counting days...

Wednesday September 26, 2007 at 11:38AM

Yay! Groups are here! (That is old news I guess already...) But the day count goes for the awardy-porn to takes over our perfect world with plain text comments.

Anyway -- here it is for all my contacts who want to play those games. Count me out please :) I don't mind people having fun of their own though. Just...

It is a form of spam in my oppinion.

agreed ;)

I'm still optimistic that there soon will be a opt out for us who do not like ... And hopeful that there will be no "wars" between the different fractions ... I do believe in understanding & respect between us fellow members, and my personal experience is that many people listen if one explain instead of taking the hard confronting line .. But that's just me perhaps and I haven't been spammed with those too much on the other Site, so maybe I would have another opinion if I did? I dunno but I still believe in communication instead of arguing... ;)

You are so civilized :) What do you think about arguing about the matter with people who add some banner saying "great shot" to a PAINTING? Anyway -- I agree -- arguments are great. So far I have experienced that if I ask from a person why they have sent me a chain mail saying I am going to suffer the bad luck and such if I don't send it to dozen friends right away that they even don't know why they sent it. That usually ends the argument. Haven't seen a person yet who doesn't think chain mails are pointless and spam -- yet they do send them. I don't know...

But I already told on Rumples page that I think that this can never probably be as bad in ipernity as it was in flickr...

Heh, yes I saw that comment of yours at rumples page - that just show the indifference people have when they past those awards ... "great shot" to a painting ... oh my :-)

The problem is that some feel they have to do this award stuff, so fighting comment / award groups instead of single individuals will be my approach... I got tired and sad of individuals being mean to each other at that Other Site over this, for me there's always a real person behind the icon who can get hurt & that's why I try to be civilized ... As sammy68, I hope there will be a opt out so we won't step on each other toes ;-)

But yes, its spam and moreover I can't see anything other than juvenile in that approach to photography.

Now I would like to think that I haven't been mean to individuals. I just let them know I don't play that game and don't want awards. I haven't blocked anyone for that plus I posted more pictures private anyway when things got bad...

I think that explore is to blame there. Those games are more about getting more comments instead of less but informational text comments that actually mean more that there is individual looking at the picture...

Wouldn't it be nice if Team Ipernity could make a "No ICONs in my comments" button?

Sally Gal replies:
I think even if they don't we can put the note on our main page -- in the title i guess... or where you can put the picture. It of course ruins the looks of your page a little bit. But this might have more effect than to say it in your profile -- that was the only option in flickr...

I think it would be nice if people who want to play with icons founded their groups and play the games only with the members. I am sure who wants finds the group and joins the game. And leave others alone... And instead adding banners to images without warning they could ask you to join the group first and then start awarding... It's too much to ask probably...
