[PL] ipernity po polsku - START! | [EN] ipernity in Polish - we have a GO!

Thursday May 8, 2008 at 11:23AM

No tak, to teraz: KOTY! do roboty...

*** =^..^= ***

[EN] Yesterday I had received a confirmation from team ipernity that the translation of ipernity into Polish had been accepted!

So, it is now officially STARTED. As before, all the volunteer translators can contact me, Rafał or the ipernity team directly. Every friendly person willing to work, with very good level of Polish and one of the other languages supported by ipernity at the moment (especially French or English) are welcome.

Even if you don't plan to volunteer as a translator, I will be grateful for any suggetions, propositions and advice - I will take all of them into account and will discuss them with all the translating team supporters. Personal emails are OK, and if really needed, I can create a separate group for brainstorming ideas and sugestions.

Well, now it's: CATS! to work...

Thank you Rita! Today I have my Japanese class, so I'm back to glossary during the weekend.
Keep your fingers crossed [if it does not interfere with your own work]! ;-)

:))) I brought the amount of your willful support to his attention. ;-)

Your crossed fingers must have helped me too, as I have completed 98% of Polish glossary (I need to check some contexts and consult some terms with my Polish friends. There is a lot of new things happening out there on the Internet. If you can forgive a personal question: "Do you blogcast often?" And still more important: How do you do it?

Yes I'm surprised too. I think Ted means the list with the key words. I think that you must work and agree on together!

Maybe they wait until you have finished your exams.

Haiku_Ted replies:
Don't you worry too much, the amount of work waiting for you is OVERWHELMING. Rita is right, to make a good start we need a basic set of words and phrases (also called a glossary).
It is considered a required basis which we both (and any other Polish team translators) need to discuss and accept before we go into the forest of translating. While I almost finished preparing the first step (the glossary), it still needs some context checking, and, when you're ready, discussion and accepting a final version for Christian.

Please Rafał don't start translating templates before you finished your exams, because working on them works kind of addictive, once started you can't stop and have to do another one and another one and......

Your choice... I don't see any reason for sudden rush to complete the glossary tomorrow without proper preparation and verification that we are happy with current glossary status and ready to submit.. As far as I know the glossary should be a stable basis for the whole translation effort and we were EXPECTED to discuss and POLISH out any rough edges BEFORE submitting the glossary to Christian. I will contact you tomorrow via mail. If you really want to start the glossary discussion tomorrow, please send your version to my email address and I will return to you with a combined version and comments. Two other volunteers have been accepted by Christian and I suggested as follows: ' the current status is: "Glossary is being prepared for discussion and will be ready in 2-3 days. Please wait." '. I hope this is acceptable to you too.

rafpro replies:
i completely agree. i think we should do glossary very carefully because it's our foundation.
i also think quality is more important than speed, especially in translation. probably you misunderstood me. i don't want to do anything in rush. I just completed my glossary, i'll make additional notes and send you to take a look. if you want please send me your version. we can discuss any doubts, maybe we will clear our minds about some words. then we can wait for two other translators and consult it with them. more heads is more point of views and more ideas. is it ok with you??

Haiku_Ted replies:
That's OK. I will combine our versions today and add my comments. Tomorrow I have my Japanese class so I guess any discussion will have to wait until Saturday-Sunday. Early next week we will consult our 2 new translators and then, after any adjustments, the glossary will be submited to Christian. Good luck with your exams!
