It is amazing how quickly time passes. It feels like yesterday to me when I was sitting here and saying good by to my Ipernity friends because I was going home for Christmas.
Well I am back on the ship again. I promised my self I would take many photos while I was at home so I had something to post when I came back, but I am sorry to say that I did not do that. I took few hundred photos of my family like always, but not much else than that. I tried a few times to go out for a drive with my camera but I did not see anything worth shooting at. I blamed it on the weather, but when I see all the beautiful photos people have been taken at this time of the year, I see that I have no excuse :)
When I go home for holidays I don't spend much time in front of the computer, and because of that I have not been very active on Ipernity lately. Now when I am back on the ship I will have more time to go through your photos. I will be doing that in the next few days :)

I'm sure no one at Ipernity, except for you, has seen such a big fishing boat from the inside. So photos from the ship will be very interesting for many at Ipernity. And there will be many motives: Mountains of fish when the nets are emptied, giant freezers, streams of bloody red water pouring into the blue sea, and offcourse the ship and the people at work.

When I thought about the possible motifs for photography, I thought about the size of the ship: It's long like a small street and high like a big house. So photos from the ship will probably not be nice and cozy, but show small people next to big machines. But one would see such proportions in many other fields too, for example steel works, chemical industries.
With respect to the movie "Happy Feet" you are probably on the side of the bad people. But it's not your fault, but the fault of politicians who don't regulate the fishing industries well enough. However, in case there would be more strict regulations, so that the worldwide amount of fish would not further decline, you would probably become unemployed. So there is probably no solution that would make everybody happy.

I'm sure that the time with your kids and your wife was very nice and important for you... much more than taking photographs... isn't it? Meet your friends now at Ipernity and enjoy the pictures of all of them... time will come and you present some own pictures.
Take Care on your ship!
Greetings from Germany,
Sandra
