Having read the previous entry, I guess I just wanted to say that it's really because of Flickr's outrageous sense of unilateralism that i am here....I would like to give Bush the credit, but it really isn't being driven by him anymore....only by his sanctimonious acolytes.

Alberich says:
My problem with Flickr was simply the fact that it is overwhelmed with stolen work, all protestations of it being against the TOS notwithstanding. But they do have a fairly good system for handling racy content, although they really stepped in it when they attempted to accommodate German regulations ...

What I'm waiting to see here is how they'll handle racy content; will my erotic art cause me to be booted? How will that not be censorship?

I don't see much else in the way of nudes here so I don't see the point to being a test case. But if my work's not welcome here I'll just keep moving on ...

I actually have no problem with Flickr (besides, isn't it still run by Canadians?) and I didn't even realize there was a fight going on about censorship. I guess it's because I use it mainly for vacation, event, and family photos to share with family and friends.

But for you artists, I guess it was an insult lumping your work in with the stolen porn.

Bardpro replies:
Flickr/Yahoo was also arbitrary and selective in whom they went after and which rules they would enforce giving the impression of selective
use of their own rules.

In reality, Flickr is primarily based on the good old Gestapo system of one person ratting out the other. And yes- the very vocal advocates of Flickr may violate the Community Guidelines by personally insulting- I say personally insulting- those who disagree, with the blessings of Flickr. Even though the community of Ipernity is small compared to Flickr, it is thoroughly refreshing to post my images to a site which does not suffer from being on the maturity level of a thirteen year old.

I am still a member of flickr.

But, this site was recommended to me by a Flickrite after I became disgusted with Flickr for being forced to rate all of my nude paintings as either "moderate" or "restricted" in content.

If I didn't rate my nudes as moderate or restricted, I would have lost my Flickr account.

Shame on all of us for loving the human body! :-) The human body is vile and disgusting, so Flickr must be right. What a world!
