Ah, an unholy alliance between Yahoo and Microsoft! (I’m grateful for any argument justifying our decision to switch to Ipernity!)

Un-Effin-Believable!

Could somebody please develop a Yahoo Pipes alternative, so I can dump these bastards for good? Pretty please? Or do I have to code it myself? Shouldn't be too hard with XSLT stylesheets. Hmm, that gives me an idea...

After learning of the Shi Tao incident and similar cases, I don't think I need any more reference for Yahoo!'s evil ways of treating their userbase.
I'm still struggling over whether or not to keep my non-Pro flickr account for a while, where it has mostly become a question of whether or not to keep my Yahoo-ID. I certainly don't want to support these guys any longer by renewing my pro-Account.
But, on a larger scale, the question will be what is happening to the entire web 2.0-sphere right now with the big players and their money having stepped in and each of them trying to monopolize this market opportunity in their own crooked ways. It seems hard to stay remain in control of the content and conduct, while still having to rely on their technical platforms. I see this as a severe catch22 with the entire web 2.0 phenomenon.
Maybe something to discuss at Barcamp Cologne?
