bloody hell

my chemicals arrived!

Kodak Xtol developer

Ilford Fixer

Kodak PhotoFlo

so uh!... now i just need to figure out how to mix it properly. the instructions on Xtol is for 5 litres but i can mix just 1 liter at the time right?! this is my first time with all this so i'll probably be asking some dumb questions.

No question is a dumb one so ask away :D !!! Always best not to divide up powder as the parts that contribute to it may not be even for each batch you mix. Xtol has a good shelf life once mixed at stock so no worries ... if you get developer in liquid form then smaller quantities can be mixed ;)

Maybe I'm giving dumb answer ( :D ) but developer once mixed at stock has a longer life if there's no air in the container. Better filling up multiple small bottles than a wider one, or you can get some bellows container (like this). I use milk plastic bottles, when it's not full anymore i squeeze it to make the air come out.

Someone would kill me for this, but I use only cold water to stop bath.

MacKeypro replies:
no, you're right. i looked it up and asked Tony, and yes it'll keep longer when mixed at once and poured into air tight containers. i do have the bellow bottles like that, but i only got 3 x 1 liters, so it won't be enough, but i'm contemplating maybe getting more, like 2 x 2.5 liters.

Tony Parkes replies:
2 x 2.5 will certainly help it keep even longer ;)
