:::... suggestions for a better ipernity ...:::

Wednesday June 20, 2007 at 03:59PM

very based on carstens posting (thanks!) here is my 'wishlist' for future developement of ipernity. feel free to comment, discuss, upgrade and complement it:

  • i need strongly a list with activity on items i left a comment (the new button "check out your activity at others" just show replies directly to your comment)
  • the list of latest docs is just too short
  • i miss the geotag-button on every single doc page
  • feeds - latest activities/comments

not urgent:

  • groups (is being implemented)
  • why i can't add more tags / member tags on this posting?

don't get it wrong: i like it here. all i want is a bit more comfort.

what do you think about it?

list with activity on items you left a comment. its there, it could be a bit better and also show comments made AFTER your own.

I second that because it would make the follow-up of your own comments much easier.

yeah, my wishes too. but don't rush too much guys, I'd rather have a good implementation than a bad one...

BTW I could add another tag to this post ;-)

I would really love to change the date uploaded, in order to be able to arange the photostream better.

also, more "latest photos/docs" from my contacts on my home page or at least the option "view more latest photos/docs from your contacts"

...oh and I also want to add, that I love it here, this would just make a couple of things more comfortable :)

yes, changing times and reordering is something I'm missing currently too esp. with the partial import from flickr...

Iljuschinpro replies:
I agree, I want also change the upload date. Or in the sense of a stream, it would be helpful if we can sort it by date taken (for the visitors).

As mentioned earlier, a "show latest 3 uploads as thumbnails"-widget for my private blog would be nice (but maybe we could work around that by converting the iPhoto/RSS/Atom Photocast feed into HTML using JavaScript or so - I am currently evaluating that).

[EDIT]
In principle this is easily possible, but the challenge is to find a solution that involves no third-party server at runtime...

this function: "Would you like to publish this photo on another website?" should be also optional, not everybody wants to share their pictures, so it would be good if you had a choice.

also, just a small thing though:
when there is notes on a pic, there is no other way to know, than going over the image. It would be good if there was some sort of caption that pointed this out
"there are notes on this image" or something of sorts.

Grin - did anyone already mention the "replace this picture" function?

Ok! Flickr clone completed :-))) Everyone wants to copy here Flickr wishlist? :))) I agree with Carsten: slow and careful development; after the recent migration of us old-Flickrites the servers are slowing down: they are upgrading, but if they add lots of features the upgrades will be uneffective.

When trying to sort the photos in an album according to the date taken ipernity doesn't do it correctly. Does anyone else have the same problem? Is it related to the previous import from flickr? My wish would be a correctly working sort-functionality. Apart from that I too am impressed by the excellent work they do here!

I agree @

> change the upload date (I went crazy trying to work out how to do this before conceding defeat *LOL*)
> longer "items you left a comment on" list

I'd like to add the automatic upload of (IPTC) meta data for tags / title / description (as on Flickr) as I do most of this on the original photos on my PC.
Having said that, Team Ipernity have already replied saying they're working on it - www.ipernity.com/blog/15352/12504 (sorry, you'll have to scroll down - I don't know how to insert a link pointing to a specific place on the page) which augers well, judging by their proactive reaction on other matters. :-)
