I think I'd rather try to wait for the 40D, now, than buying a 450D in replacement of my 400D... But it's still a pleasure to see Canon is improving, year after year, their "first category" offer.

It has some interesting details, but overall it doesn't seem like a big jump. I'm not a Canon user, but I don't think anybody with 350D or 400D will feel the urge to upgrade (which is probably a good thing!). The change to SD card is a smart move to attract new customers.

The three most interesting options to me:
Auto Lighting Optimizer - is this the magic "make picture WOW!" button!?
Highlight Tone Priority - comes in handy every once in a while. Blown highlights get people so upset.
Verification data - might be nice for those who intend to do a little journalism...

Seems like a software upgrade mostly. I'm also a little bit suspicious as to the quality of these features, some reviews should tell us shortly though.

I'm sure one of those nice new hires LCDs would have suited the 450D much better than an upscaled version of the old LCD. This, to me, is one of the bigger disappointments.

Agreed on SD: CF is one of the worst pieces of crap ever sold... bulky and with those damn pins...
