QtPfsGUI operators

Wednesday August 29, 2007 at 06:56PM

An example of the results given by the different QtPfsGUI operators on the same set of bracketed shots.

HDR isn't only about coloured shots. The theory was develop to find a method to obtain from film and sensors images with a luminosity range more similar to human eye.

In my experience the new Mantiuk operator, with default settings, give the more natural results:

Sunset (on the playground I)
Sunset (on the playground I)
Sunset (on the playground V)
Sunset (on the playground V)

The more artistic effects are given by the Fattal operator, but the results are very noisy on larger images:

Sunset (on the playground IV)
Sunset (on the playground IV)

Drago, Durand and Reinhard '02 give natural results too:

Sunset (on the playground VI)
Sunset (on the playground VI)
Sunset (on the playground II)
Sunset (on the playground II)
Sunset (on the playground III)
Sunset (on the playground III)

On this set I had bad results with Ashkimin, Pattanaik and Reinhard '05.

Roberto Ballerini - travelingpro replies:
I download the deb packages here: ubuntu.davromaniak.eu/
The last versions were splitted in two files and I was unable to fulfil the dependencies (there must be an error in the internal package descriptors).
So I found that solution: I unpack the two deb packages using Ark or another archive decompressor; both contains three files; I use the two data.tar.gz, unpacking them and merging the two dirs.
In the resulting dir structure there is a bin directory containing the qtpfsgui executable.
The simpler way is to use Synaptic, but it installs an old version.
In October we'll have the new Ubuntu Gutsy release and it will embed the more recent QtPfsGUI version.
If you have problems, I can try to help you using Ipernity chat.
