3D wall photos viewing with PicLens

Nice tool. Would be great to have the full integration of Ipernity...

[IT] PicLens è un fantastico plugin che trasforma il vostro browser in un'esperienza 3D a schermo intero per le visualizzazione di foto e video online. Potete vederne una demo qui.

Ci piacerebbe rendere Ipernity totalmente compatibile con PicLens. Ciò darebbe agli utenti e ai visitatori la possibilità di vedere gallerie fotografiche, album e persino foto postate nei gruppi... su un proiettore 3D a pieno schermo. Che classe!

Abbiamo implementato una integrazione basilare di PicLens basata su RSS, che per esempio permette di vedere mediante PicLens le ultime 20 foto pubbliche di un utente. Potete provarlo installando il plugin PicLens, poi andando sulla pagina dei documenti di un utente, poi trascinando il vostro mouse su un'immagine ed infine cliccando sull'icona a forma di freccia.

Per un'integrazione completa, abbiamo bisogno di un accordo con PicLens. Per favore aiutateci a convincerli inviando loro un piccolo messaggio in tal senso ;-)

Yes, PicLens is a cool plugin (I already use it on Win), but it has a big limit: no Linux version!!

I know! That is very frustrating! I e-mailed them about it, and it sounded like there might be hope. But please ask for it in an e-mail! The more that ask, the more likely it is that we'll get it (sooner)!

Ever since I blogged about it I had already sent them a message. I got a "polite" response that they had added Ipernity to their list of applications, and that it would be included "eventually"...

Request for PicLense and Cooliris support has been sent! Although, I cannot use PicLense because their software is not Linux compliant.

Not even PicLense is worth switching to a lesser operating system. ;o)

Hope you mentioned that too in your mail. If not please send them another mail and ask for Linux support. The more they notice people want it, the more likely it is they'll make it! :)

I agree with a number of others who already posted, not having linux support is a real drawback.

It's so awesome to see so many Linux users here on Ipernity! I hope you'll send Cooliris/PicLens an e-mail and ask for Linux support! Also please join the Linux group on Ipernity! :)

You could help us out in a big way in this initiative by spreading the word about us to your friends that visit ipernity.com, or if possible even contact the site and let them know you would be interested in using PicLens. The more users who are already asking for PicLens capability, the easier it is for us to convince sites to let us add in PicLens."

Very nice. Over at Mozilla Add-ons, PicLens is one of our personal favorites.

Thanks to Matt Wahl from Piclens, ipernity does now allow you to view a whole DocStream/Album/Group docs with Piclens. Wow this rocks!

I am not sure if only i do have the problem:
seems it doesn't always work.
if i click on documents of a user piclens mostly shows just the photos of the first page.
if i click on the 2nd documents page piclens shows all documents from the first to the last, this is the case with most users which i visited to test piclens.
but on eg. Bigoodes photostream i have to click on the 3rd page to see all photos.
could somebody check this please? maybe it's because of private photos inbetween or whatever.

EDIT: as assbach told me piclens doesn't work with the "latest docs from network" feed.

yes, they are currently working on full integration for piclens, until this is done you only get the first 20 pics of a stream...

No, they already integrated it further.
I get all the pictures of an album or group. On a Docstream I only get all pictures, if I don't start from the first page (in that case I get around 20 pics), but from an "earlier" page.

just klick on the arrow that appears at the left side of the pictures - but take any picture that's older than the 20 latest are ;-)

Maybe it's because Piclens has cached an older feed. Try to empty you cache or wait untill tomorrow and it should work.
Let me know if it's still not working then.

hm. same as Tuvalu for me today... I get the full docstream *except* if I start from page 1...
but that's already great ;-)

i still have the problems, even after emptying the cache and everything.
For me the error is not reproduceable, sometimes it works and sometimes not even with the documents of the same user. i am using windows xp prof. and on a second pc windows vista; i have the problems on both computers.
i've just tried it several times with Assbach's documents, it just worked once...strange.
if i try it with group pictures it shows just the first pics too, sometimes it says for the photo name: "rightless" instead of the real name.
i really have no idea what the reasons could be.
no one else with this problem?

I have the same problems:
When I click to see someone's documents: first 20 only
When I click play on the 21st or any after: the whole docstream (I also just checked this with e.g. Frall's docs)
When I click on one of my groups and click PicLens (in the upper right corner of firefox): first 20 only
When I do the same but click play on one of the images: all pics of the groups

There seems to be a difference with using the play button and using the "Launch PicLens" button next to the search bar. The "Launch PicLens" button would always give me just the first 20 pictures. The Play button sometimes gives me more (in the case of viewing documents it doesn't)

I also had emptied the Firefox cache before and restarted it.

It's cool that it works on favourites. That enables great favourites browsing! I know to some this is the way they surf around and it gets you connected to different streams quickly.

Today still the same problem with me too. There seems to be a bug...

it works now with all of my photos. but not when i search photos and in the search-tool of piclens there is no ipernity available . i think it works soon.

We are discussing with PicLens team to integrate ipernity search.
